Abi and Ben, Kitley House wedding – 27th September 2014

Kitley house weddings are always special and Abi and Bens wedding was no exception. Kitley House is set in a beautiful part of Devon a few miles from Plymouth and it has some fantastic scenery and back drops for your wedding photography.

My day started by photographing Abi’s bridal preparation. I arrived at Kitley house to find it all decked out with Abi’s and Bens colour scheme of cerise with an accent of lime green. I was excited to find that the bridal suite had had a makeover since my last visit, opening it into two rooms and creating a serene environment for the early stages of Abi’s wedding day. The proceeding were in full flow as I walked in, the frivolity only being broken by visits from various family members and friends visiting to bring trinkets, gifts and a touch of good luck.

The ceremony room had beautiful diffused sun light cascading through the south facing façade of Kitley House, right on to the spot where Abi and Ben would be standing to exchange their vows. The setting was perfect. After a minor delay Abi and her father Philip entered the room and gracefully made their way to the eagerly awaiting Ben. The wedding ceremony went without a hitch and left several of the guests with teary eyes as Ben and Abi kissed for the first time as husband and wife.

After some drinks on the lawn it was time for the group photos and then I whisked the happy couple off for some couple photos. This is a great time for the couple to have (aside from me!) a bit of alone time to slow the pace down and reflect on the days events so far. Kitley house has some fantastic locations around the grounds for photos, so come rain or shine there is always somewhere to go for this special time.

The rest of the day flew by and after some scrumptious food, emotional speeches, careful cake cutting and a first dance I seized the opportunity to photograph the happy couple outside before all of the natural light had diminished.
