Gemma and Roger, Mount Edgcumbe House wedding – 21st June 2015

I had the good fortune to photograph Gemma and Roger’s baby girl Orla a couple of years ago when she was born and I was delighted to be offered the chance to photograph Gemma and Roger’s wedding day at Mount Edgcumbe House in Cornwall. Mount Edgcumbe House has a myriad of photo opportunities for couples across its 865 acres of gardens and woodlands.

I spent a little time with Gemma in the final stages of her bridal preparations and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. Meanwhile Roger had pulled up outside in a roaring AC Cobra, his choice of wedding car to whisk his soon to be bride away after the ceremony.

The ceremony went without a hitch and it wasn’t long before all the guests were packed off to the Earl’s garden to have drinks and canapés. This time is the perfect time to round the families up for the group photographs, before getting in to the Land Rover defender and driving up to the Folly to start a quick couple photograph session. The vantage point from the ‘Folly’ has the spectacular back drop of Plymouth Sound, making it a terrific place for lovers of the sea to have outlined in the distance.

Gemma and Roger’s reception was held at ‘The Vault’ at Whitsands. I raced up to The Vault to ensure I was in position to witness the arrival of the bride and groom. Before I left I took the opportunity to whisk Gemma and Roger up on to the cliff top to capture another of their favourite local places, Whitsand Bay.
