Welcome to my new blog
Whilst this is primarily a wedding photography blog I will be looking to include various helpful topics to help you with your wedding planning.
Since it’s the end of summer and we are all enjoying some fantastic weather in Devon and Cornwall, I thought it was a good opportunity to look ahead at the winter wedding season when the daylight hours are low but the ambiance around weddings is high. I simply love shooting in the low light that winter brings with it. Of course it is a challenge for any photography shooting in low light but I am up for that challenge!! I am sure as a bride and groom you are probably less concerned what the conditions are like for the photographer and would just like the quality images that you have entrusted me to provide!!
Low-light winter weddings are romantic and intimate, usually lit by candles and lanterns or maybe the roaring log fire in the middle of the room. It’s important to have a photographer who is experienced at shooting in low-light conditions, and in addition who knows how to shoot creatively in low-light conditions.
I had the pleasure of shooting with a good friend Paul Keppel for Charlotte and Mike’s pendennis castle wedding. The ceremony was conducted at Mylor church and was followed by a quick photo opportunity for group shots and some couple shots while we still had some ambient light. It was then time to head to Pendennis Castle, Keep, for mulled wine, canapés and some sea shanty singers! The wedding breakfast was held in the barracks at Pendennis Castle and was closely followed by some witty and emotional speeches before the evening dancing commenced..…..
Here are a few of my favorite images from Charlotte and Mike’s winter wedding photography at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth, Cornwall.

I love darkness, and the way subtle light is combined with the ambient surroundings. I would love to hear about your candlelit wedding, your castle wedding, or whatever low-light situations you are expecting at your event.
