Carly and Paul, Pembroke House, Richmond, Wedding – 1st August 2015

I had the great fortune to photograph Paul’s sister’s wedding in Lebanon several years ago, and it was an absolute pleasure to be invited to photograph Carly and Paul on their special day at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond, London.

My day began by joining Carly and her bridal party. Her mum Tina and her two sisters, Jodie and Sophie accompanied her in their hotel room at the Richmond Park hotel, where the hairdresser and make-up artists had already started beautifying the ladies. I witnessed tears and much, much laughter which heightened when Carly’s father, Dave, entered the room and entertained the ladies.

The wedding venue, Pembroke Lodge, is only a 5 minute drive away from the Richmond Park hotel so is perfectly situated for guests to stay nearby. Pembroke lodge has breathtaking views across Richmond and is nestled within the serene grounds of Richmond Park. It has the most enchanting rose garden where the late afternoon / early evening sunshine cascades down through the trees illuminating the area with the most beautiful light. This is a dream location for couple portraits.

The wedding ceremony was conducted in the Belvedere suite at Pembroke lodge. An emotional affair with some fumbling of vows, beautifully sincere exchanges of emotion and tears in the congregation. It was time for a quick celebratory drink and some family and friends group photographs before heading back in for the wedding breakfast. Unconventionally Carly kicked off the speeches, several laughs were had at the expense of Paul but it was all in good taste. Unlike the best man’s speech which raised several eyebrows with tales of the past, how Paul met Carly (the uncensored version!) and props of pictures of Paul’s bygone years. The bridesmaids aided and abetted the best man to hilarious effect.

By now we were approaching ‘golden hour’, the sun was beginning to set. The lighting was soft, golden and stunning. So I encouraged the bride and groom to meander back to the rose garden for some more couple photographs.

I had a fantastic day with Carly and Paul on their wedding day, such a lovely couple to work with. I hope you enjoy the images above as much as I enjoyed capturing them.
